CaféNET

Locations

Current locations available include hotspots in the Palmerston North CBD (inside the PN ring road system), hot spots in outer Palmerston North (outside of the ring road sytem) and hotspots provided over the Wifi infrastructure at Massey University.

There is currently a project underway (CafeNet Lite) to provide CafeNet access to locations that are not within the reach of the InspireNet fibre and wireless networks with CafeNet data tunneled over bandwidth usually provided by UBS DSL connections.

Please contact to suggest a location in Palmerston North you would like to see covered with a CafeNET hotspot or if you own a buisness that you think would be enhanced by hosting a CafeNet hotspot.

InspireNET bring CafeNET to The National Army Museum in Waiouru

The National Army Museum in Waiouru provides New Zealanders with a valuable historical connection, showcasing our nation's proud military history and honouring the memory of Kiwi soldiers.

When the Museum decided it would like to offer a Wi-Fi system to its visitors, it approached CityLink's business partners, Inspire Net (an ISP based in the Manawatu). Inspire Net recommended it use CafeNET.

"We needed a wireless solution for students and researchers who work in our library and we also wanted to make it available in the café for tourists," says Waiouru Museum's Marketing Manager, Kevin Farrington. "However, we didn't want them eating up all our bandwidth and incurring massive costs."

CafeNET was the perfect solution for the Museum because it's based on a ‘user pays' system. This means the Museum pays no additional cost on top of its own Internet connection, and the public has full Internet access.

"People have been using it with no problems and we're really happy to be able to offer our visitors cheap and easy Internet access," says Kevin. "CafeNET has been a great addition to our services at the Museum."
